So, what can we tell you about January in St Ives?
Well the weather is normally a little warmer here than in the rest of the country and it hardly ever snows! You can expect gorgeous crisp walks along the beaches, followed by a nice drink in one of the famous pubs along the harbour like the Sloop Inn or Lifeboat Inn. The Union Inn on Fore Street is dog friendly and The Golden Lion is very popular amongst locals because of its selection of ales and cider.
One thing we’ve just learnt too, a lot of the pubs have January sales – which means half price beers and ciders. What are you waiting for?
Got plans to see in 2013 yet?
Well, New Year’s Eve in St Ives is full of street parties, beach parties, fancy dress and fireworks. Join the masses down by the iconic harbour for celebrations, and if you are staying at Room with a View, you can choose to finish the night watching over the festivities with a glass of champers from the juliet balcony. Either way, your bed for the night will be a convenient staggering distance away!

Olympic Torch Relay starts at Lands End
In addition to the The St Ives Literary Festival, and The St Ives Food and Drink Festival, Cornwall will be the first destination in Great Britain to receive the Olympic Flame. Lands End will provide a spectacular backdrop to the start of The Olympic Torch Relay on Saturday 19th May 2012 with the flame making its way through the county.
Lands End is only a 30 minute drive away from St Ives, along one of Britain’s most beautiful coastal roads, passing through the idyllic villages of Zennor, Morvah
and St Just.
And if you don’t fancy all that activity, there is always the opportunity to just chill out and enjoy the view!

The St Ives Literary Festival is running from Saturday 5th to Sunday 12th May, with a host of events at St Ives Arts Club, St Ives Library and Café Art.

The St Ives Food and Drink Festival is on from Monday 21st to Sunday 27th May
